Improving Livelihoods through Family Planning

The Right to Decide:

Family planning allows women and girls to choose the number, timing and spacing of their pregnancies, a fundamental right that deeply impacts healthcare outcomes. The autonomy over reproductive choices is crucial for individuals' lives, significantly affecting education, career opportunities, and overall well-being.

For more than five decades, Bayer has been committed to supporting educational programs and rights-based family planning initiatives across over 130 countries worldwide. Our focus has centered on ensuring access to safe, modern contraceptives that empower women to make informed decisions about their health and future.

To advance this commitment as part of our broader sustnability approach, we have set an ambitious goal for low- and middle-income countries LMICs. We m to help increase the number of women utilizing modern contraception annually by providing access to these services. This target is in line with United Nations Sustnable Development Goals SDG 3 on good health and well-being, SDG 5 on ger equality, and SDG 6 on affordable and clean energy.

To realize this goal, we are committed to fostering innovative partnerships that address not just the avlability of our products but also the social acceptance of family planning options. This multi-faceted approach is designed to build a comprehensive strategy that leverages resources across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and community engagement.

Here’s how we're making an impact:

• Women's health products such as contraceptive pills, injections, intrauterine devices IUDs, and implants were used by approximately 42 million women in LMICs in 2022. This highlights our commitment to supporting reproductive choice worldwide.

• The Task Force for the Acceleration of Access to Contraceptives Task Force Acess - supported by Bayer - achieved significant milestones, reporting over two million additional users of contraception in participating cities across the globe.

To reach these goals, we are working closely with local stakeholders and partners on the ground. This collaboration ensures that our efforts not only provide access but also promote acceptance and awareness about family planning options among diverse communities.
